One application per household determines eligibility for meal benefits and other programs
Plano ISD is encouraging families to apply for free and reduced-price school meals for the 2026-27 school year, with applications now available online and at district campuses.
Only one application per household is required. In addition to determining eligibility for free or reduced-price meals, the application may also help families qualify for other state or federal benefits. Families can complete an application online through SchoolCafé or pick up a paper application at any Plano ISD campus or the district’s Food and Nutritional Services office at 5804 Coit Road, Suite 102.
Who Qualifies?
Students may qualify for meal benefits if their household:
Meets the federal income eligibility guidelines.
Receives Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR).
Includes a child who is a foster child, homeless, runaway, migrant or displaced by a declared disaster.
Has a child enrolled in Head Start or Even Start.
Families already identified through qualifying assistance programs will be notified by Plano ISD and do not need to submit an application.
Applications Accepted Throughout The School Year
Families may apply at any time during the school year if their financial situation changes, such as after a job loss or an increase in household size.
For the 2026-27 school year, a family of four may qualify for:
Free meals with an annual household income of $42,900 or less.
Reduced-price meals with an annual household income of $61,050 or less.
Additional income eligibility guidelines are available through Plano ISD.
Applications can be completed online at SchoolCafé, and more information about eligibility is available through the Texas Department of Agriculture’s SquareMeals program
