Robstown ISD kicks off new school year with message of positivity

Robstown ISD kicked off the 2026-27 school year with a spirited event, featuring motivational speaker Sam Glenn, to inspire positivity and unity among staff.

ROBSTOWN, Texas — Robstown Independent School District employees returned to campus Monday morning for a high-energy celebration marking the start of the 2026-27 school year.

The district held its annual convocation at Robstown Early College High School, welcoming faculty and staff with performances from the band, cheerleaders and dance team, along with music from a DJ.

“This morning was an exciting morning for our Robstown ISD employees,” district communications coordinator Katrina Alejandro said. “We were greeted by our band, cheer and dance teams and even our DJ.”

The event featured nationally recognized motivational speaker Sam Glenn, also known as “The Attitude Guy.” Glenn spoke to employees about maintaining positive attitudes while working in a school environment and supporting both students and colleagues.

Alejandro said that message is especially important because employees and students will inevitably experience difficult days during the school year.

“We see each other, we feed off each other, and it’s extremely important to have a positive attitude each and every day,” Alejandro said. “A lot of times, it’s hard because we don’t always have the best days. Students have hard days, but once we step foot on Robstown ISD campuses, it’s important for us to know that we’re all in this together.”

Alejandro said the district’s employees are focused on inspiring students, transforming lives and empowering the next generation.

“Our guest speaker, Sam Glenn, helped us do that today,” Alejandro said. “We started with a great morning and a great start to the new school year.”

The district also used the event to build excitement and strengthen connections among employees before students return.

Alejandro, a Robstown High School alumna, said hearing the marching band perform brought back memories and helped bring the district’s school spirit to life.

“For me, the sound of the marching band just helps bring the spirit alive,” Alejandro said. “Seeing the cheerleaders and seeing our teachers greeting each other as they were coming onto the campus, to me, it exudes what a great school year this is going to be. I’m all about positivity, and I’m looking forward to this school year.”

Faculty and staff will spend the coming days preparing classrooms, meeting families and getting ready for the first day of school. Meet-the-teacher events are scheduled during the week, along with a backpack and school supply giveaway featuring community and outreach resources.

“We are already hitting the ground running,” Alejandro said. “There are a lot of things in store for Robstown ISD, from our elementary schools all the way up to our high school. Our teachers are in gear and ready to support our students and welcome them back.”

Robstown ISD students return to class Tuesday, Aug. 11.
