SAN ANTONIO — Castle Hills police have identified the driver killed in a single-vehicle crash late Saturday as 21-year-old Javier Barrera.
Officers responded to the crash around 10 p.m. Saturday on the eastbound frontage road of Northwest Loop 410 near Northwest Military Highway, according to the Castle Hills Police Department.
When emergency crews arrived, they found Barrera dead at the scene. He was the vehicle’s only occupant.
Police said a preliminary investigation found the vehicle was traveling an estimated 90 to 100 mph before striking a concrete barrier and overturning. Investigators said there were no signs that intoxication played a role in the crash.
The Castle Hills Police Department Criminal Investigations Division, the San Antonio Police Department Traffic Investigation Detail, the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Castle Hills Fire Department, and the Texas Department of Transportation HERO Program assisted with the investigation.
