SAN ANTONIO – The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce has adopted an official public policy position backing the implementation of the voter-approved Coliseum Complex Venue Project.
This redevelopment plan was approved by Bexar County voters through Proposition A in the Nov. 4, 2025, election.
The position was recommended by the Chamber’s Public Policy Council and approved by its Executive Board. It affirms support for moving forward with the project while preserving the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo as a major economic and cultural asset for the region.
“The business community is eager to see Proposition A implemented,” said Jeff Webster, president and CEO of the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. “The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo has been an economic engine for our region for generations, and the Coliseum Complex represents an important opportunity to strengthen the East Side through thoughtful public and private investment. We believe these objectives can and should be achieved together.”
In its release, the Chamber said its position recognizes the rodeo’s longstanding role in generating economic activity, attracting visitors from across Texas, the United States and Mexico, and investing millions of dollars in youth education and scholarships. The Chamber also said it supports redevelopment consistent with commitments presented to Commissioners Court and approved by voters through Proposition A.
The Chamber encouraged continued collaboration among Bexar County, the Community Arenas Board, the San Antonio Livestock Exposition and private development partners to advance the voter-approved vision for the Coliseum Complex and maximize long-term economic benefits for Bexar County.
“Our focus is on implementation,” Webster said. “Greater Chamber members want to see the voter-approved project move forward in a way that preserves the Rodeo’s long-term success, attracts investment, and creates lasting economic opportunity for San Antonio’s East Side.”
In its approved position statement, the Chamber said it “fully supports” implementation of the Coliseum Complex Venue Project approved by voters through Proposition A on Nov. 4, 2025. The statement also says implementation “should embrace and champion the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo as the defining anchor of the campus,” and that redevelopment efforts “should not conflict, displace or diminish rodeo operations.”
The Chamber said it looks forward to working with Bexar County, the Community Arenas Board, community stakeholders and the private sector on implementation of Proposition A.
