A 28-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection to a shooting in Fort Worth that killed one man and injured another early Saturday, according to police records.
Kenyon Collins was arrested Monday and faces charges of murder and unlawful carrying of a weapon, according to Fort Worth jail records.
Fort Worth police officers initially responded to calls about a large group fight at the intersection of Miller Avenue and East Berry Street about 2:20 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, police said.
When officers arrived, they learned about a shooting that had happened outside the New Saver K Store in the 4100 block of East Berry, police said.
The officers found a man with a gunshot wound in the parking lot of the convenience store. Police said medical personnel tried to revive the victim, but he died at the scene. The man will be publicly identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Another man with a gunshot wound showed up at a hospital in a private vehicle. That man had been shot in the leg and his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, according to police.
Homicide detectives are investigating what led to the shooting.
