Carter BloodCare Texoma, formerly Texoma Regional Blood Center, has served this region since April 1, 1975. Carter BloodCare has served Texas since 1951.

Now under its new ownership, the Sherman blood center is open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

“Carter BloodCare collects blood and blood components across 59 counties in North, Central and East Texas to support more than 225 hospitals and medical facilities,” the release said. “The Texas-based nonprofit’s services include blood collection, processing, testing, storage and distribution, along with specialties in apheresis and cellular therapy.”

Those wishing to donate blood should be aware of the center’s general donation guidelines:

– Must be 17 years of age

– Must be in good general health and meet all blood donor guidelines.

– Must weigh a minimum of 110 pounds.

– Minimum Hemoglobin Requirements: 12.5 g/dL for Females & 13.0 g/dl for Males

– Pulse must fall between 50-100 beats per minute with no irregularities.

– Temperature must not exceed 99.5 F.

– Blood Pressure must fall between 90-180 Systolic and 50-100 Diastolic.
