As millions of travelers brace for delays at airports amid the government shutdown, the El Paso International Airport said it has not received any official notice from the Federal Aviation Administration regarding possible flight reductions.
More than 40 major airports will see a 10% cut in flight as a result on the country’s air traffic controllers, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced at a Nov. 5 news conference, reported USA TODAY. Major airports in Dallas, Houston, New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles and more are included in the list of sites facing flight reductions, according to ABC News and CBS News, which cited anonymous sources.
El Paso International Airport said in a social media post on Nov. 6 that it is closely monitoring developments and will share any updates as soon as information becomes available.
“Travelers are encouraged to check directly with their airlines for the latest flight schedules and status,” the El Paso International Airport posted on Facebook. “Our airport team remains fully staffed and ready to assist passengers as needed.”
As of early Friday morning, one Southwest flight was delayed in El Paso — an arrival from Phoenix, according to the airport’s flight tracker.
The airports named to face flight cuts are listed below, but could change when an official list is released by the FAA, according to reports from ABC News and CBS News.
