LUBBOCK, Texas — A Lubbock family is leaning on faith and each other after their mother received a life-changing cancer diagnosis.

For years, many Veronica Gonzalez, who many know her as “Mrs. Patty” has welcomed customers through the doors of Ghostriders Tattoo & Body Piercing Studio, where she built a family business. Ghostriders Tattoo & Body Piercing Studio is located at 3610 Avenue Q. Mrs. Patty and her family opened the shop back in 2006 and have served many customers over the years and have become a known business throughout Lubbock.

The famous Mrs. Patty, who greets costumers and is a highly requested professional piercer, has had a long history of recurring health issues and her family shared how she was recently diagnosed with Cancer.

After months of doctor appointments, emergency room visits and declining health, she is facing a new challenge: “The big C word it really has caused a lot of different emotions at the moment,” she said.

She shared she started her first round of chemotherapy treatments in June.

Her son Roger Gonzales said he is always requesting lots of prayers.

So far, Patty has completed two rounds of chemotherapy while continuing to fight through treatment. Despite taking time away from work after her diagnosis, Patty has recently returned to working at the shop. During her absence, her family stepped in to help keep the business operating while supporting her through treatment.

Her son shared his excitement about seeing his mother return to doing what she loves.
“My mom is back at work. Come support her at Ghostriders Tattoo & Body Piercing Studio. She’s a fighter and super strong. Nothing will stop her! I love you, Mom. Continue praying for my mom.”

The family hopes Lubbock will continue supporting Patty by visiting the shop while she undergoes treatment. Ghostriders Tattoo & Body Piercing Studio is open from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and is open Wednesday through Saturday. The shop offers professional piercings, tattoos, accessories and handmade cups.

The family says every customer who walks through the door helps support Patty as she continues her cancer journey.
