CSCNT will celebrate its 25th anniversary with its Annual Red Tie Gala on Nov. 14
When someone hears the words “you have cancer,” life changes instantly. Cancer Support Community North Texas has spent the past 25 years helping people navigate that emotional weight, and soon a Plano resident will help guide the organization into its next chapter.
Chad Black, the organization’s current director of development, has been named incoming CEO of Cancer Support Community North Texas, stepping into the role in January 2027.
Black will succeed longtime CEO Mirchelle Louis, who has led CSCNT for 18 years and helped grow the organization into one of North Texas’ leading providers of free emotional and social support programs for cancer patients and their families.
“Stepping into the role of CEO after Mirchelle is both an incredible honor and a tremendous responsibility,” said Black. “She has built an organization defined by compassion, innovation and unwavering commitment to those impacted by cancer.
A New Leader With A Big Vision
For Black, the new role comes with both gratitude for what CSCNT has built and a clear vision for where it can go next. His goal is to expand CSCNT’s reach beyond North Texas with an ambitious five-year plan to make no-cost psychosocial cancer support available to more people across Texas.
“The need for mental health support after a cancer diagnosis continues to grow, and geography should never determine whether someone has access to those services,” said Black. “Our vision is to build on the incredible foundation CSCNT has established and expand our reach so that no one facing cancer in Texas has to navigate it alone.”
The organization provides services including support groups, counseling, educational workshops, wellness programs and opportunities for connection — all designed to help people manage the emotional side of a cancer diagnosis.
“As we head into our 25th year and beyond, I look forward to honoring that legacy while working alongside our dedicated staff, volunteers, donors and community partners to ensure that even more individuals and families know they never have to face cancer alone,” said Black.
Celebrating 25 Years With Broadway Nights
Before Black officially steps into the CEO role, CSCNT will celebrate its upcoming milestone with its 6th Annual Red Tie Gala, presented by Woot!
The themed event, “Broadway Nights,” will take place Nov. 14, 2026, at Astoria Event Venue near Dallas Love Field. The evening will feature Broadway-inspired entertainment, dinner, auctions and fundraising efforts benefiting CSCNT’s free programs.
“Broadway is about powerful stories, unforgettable performances and finding hope even during life’s hardest moments,” Black said. “That’s what happens every day at Cancer Support Community North Texas. Every person who walks through our red doors has a story, and this evening celebrates those journeys while helping us write our next chapter.”
The gala will help fund CSCNT’s programs for cancer patients, survivors, caregivers and families while supporting the organization’s plans for future growth.
