A 60-year-old North Texas man pleaded guilty to posing as a licensed attorney to scam families of inmates in the Tarrant County Jail out of thousands of dollars, prosecutors said.
Ramond Davis Jr., of Fort Worth, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for falsely holding himself out as a lawyer, the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office said in a social media post on Wednesday.
Davis was arrested in March after investigators with the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office determined he was not a licensed attorney and had targeted multiple victims.

According to the DA’s Office, Davis contacted people incarcerated at the jail and offered them legal services, then arranged to meet with the inmates’ families to collect payments of $3,000 in exchange for the services.
