EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — New upgrades are coming to Marty Robbins Park in East El Paso, with city leaders gathering on Wednesday to break ground on improvement plans aimed at making the park brighter and more welcoming.
City officials invited residents to a groundbreaking ceremony for the Sun City Lights project at the park on Wednesday. Organizers said the project adds more lighting and amenities such as park benches and landscaping.
“These improvements will brighten the park in the evenings and create a more vibrant, inviting pedestrian-friendly environment for everyone to enjoy,” El Paso Mayor Renard Johnson said.

Rep. Art Fierro, who represents East El Paso and the Lower Valley, said, “The entire idea was really planted by community.”
The city said the park will also be opening an amphitheater and making additional landscaping changes, with that work expected to be ready by early 2027.
