LUBBOCK, Texas — The nonprofit Hope for Minds is inviting the community to take part in its annual Color Run later this month, raising money to support families caring for children with brain injuries.
The event will begin at 9 am on August 22nd at Lubbock-Cooper High School. Participants can run or walk the course, with all proceeds benefiting Help for Minds’ programs.
Former Texas Tech men’s tennis coach Tim Siegel founded the nonprofit after his son, Luke, suffered a traumatic brain injury in a golf cart accident in 2015. After years of therapy and rehabilitation, Luke died in 2021.

Today, Hope for Minds provides financial assistance, educational resources and support to families navigating childhood brain injuries. The organization has helped families in 47 states through grants, support groups and its annual family conference.
Registration for the Color Run is $33, honoring Luke’s favorite number. Organizers say the event will also feature food trucks, vendors and activities for families.
Those interested can register online through Hope for Minds or sign up the morning of the event. Organizers say sponsorship and volunteer opportunities are also still available.
