Escaping Austin on Interstate 35 can feel like a true victory. You’ve evaded construction crews and a billion cars to find freedom in Central Texas. Yet once you get to Waco, you still face the risk of standstill traffic going over the Brazos River. That risk continues this week in light of an upcoming closure from TxDOT.
Drivers on I-35 in Waco are being told to expect delays if they’re traveling north. The highway will be closed between New Road Drive and 12th Street for the removal of a flyover, starting at midnight on Friday, August 7, and lasting 24 hours, according to TxDOT Austin.
Additionally, South Valley Mills Drive direct connect, East and Westbound South Valley Mills Drive to the traffic circle and East and Westbound Irving Lee Street/Primrose Drive at I-35 will all be closed. The latter will be closed for 14 days, according to TxDOT Austin.
