Experience the 12th Annual Islamic Arts Festival in Houston. Here’s what you need to know.

  • November 7, 2025

HOUSTON – Mark your calendars for the 12th annual Islamic Arts Festival — the largest and oldest event of its kind in the United States, celebrating Islamic art and culture.

Islamic art is known for its abstract beauty, blending calligraphy and geometric patterns across paintings, architecture, tapestries and even everyday items.

What began with a handful of artists in a mosque in Spring, Texas, by the Islamic Arts Society, has grown into a national showcase featuring more than 50 artists from across the U.S. and Canada, with over 5,000 pieces of art on display.

Last year, the festival moved to the University of Houston, adding film screenings, a comedy show and live Sufi music — all returning this year.

New this year is the Art of Storytelling workshop, helping young adults find their creative voice through art.

Most activities are free, though tickets are required for the comedy show and Sufi performance.
