GUN BARREL CITY, Texas (KLTV) – Multiple East Texas fire departments worked to extinguish a fire at a business Wednesday in the 700 block of West Main Street in Gun Barrel City.
Firefighters responded around 3:11 p.m. to the business and reported smoke coming from the east end of the building, according to the Gun Barrel City Fire Department.
Due to the size of the building, the department said it requested assistance from Payne Springs Fire Rescue, Mabank Fire Department and Kemp Fire Department to bring the flames under control.
The department said the fire was brought under control in about 20 minutes and crews were on scene for two hours.
Firefighters contained the fire to the area where it started, which sustained heavy smoke and water damage, the department said.
Gun Barrel City and Mabank police officers rerouted traffic on West Main Street to protect firefighters and their fire trucks.
No occupants were inside at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported to the first responders.
GBC Fire and the Gun Barrel City Police Department are investigating the origins of the fire.
