HOUSTON – An hours-long shutdown is expected on I-610 in southeast Houston due to a reported oil spill on the highway.

What we know:

The spill is reported in the eastbound lanes of I-610 near Broad Street. Drivers are being directed toward the exit.

First responders and a hazmat are on the scene.

TxDOT shared at around 1:30 p.m. that the cleanup is expected to take “multiple hours.”

What we don’t know:

There is no information regarding what caused the oil spill.
