EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Thousands of customers are without power in El Paso Thursday afternoon after dozens of outages were reported, most of them in the Far East.
According to El Paso Electric’s Outage map, a “multiple outage event” has left over 6,000 customers without power in the City, with most outages reported in the Northeast and Far East.
KFOX14/CBS4 reached out to EPElectric to learn more about what is causing the outages.
EPElectric said the outages in Far East El Paso were caused by the “strong thunderstorms” and that they can’t estimate yet when power will be restored.

The outages in far East El Paso are associated with the strong thunderstorms that moved through the area. Crews have been dispatched and are actively assessing conditions, identifying damage and working to safely restore service to affected customers.At this time, we are still evaluating the extent of the impact and do not yet have a confirmed restoration estimate. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.
