No Fort Worth restaurants were closed during July 26-Aug. 1 health inspections, but several had issues with roaches and rodent droppings, according to data from the city compiled by the Star-Telegram.
Fort Worth uses a demerit system, with zero being a perfect score. Restaurants that receive more than 30 demerits are required to immediately fix the most critical violations and start corrective procedures on all the other violations within 48 hours. No establishment scored more than 30 on this round of inspections.
Tortas D.F. at 5355 E. Loop 820 scored 23 on July 29. Some employees hadn’t completed an accredited food handler course, there wasn’t a certified food protection manager at the facility and a dead roach was seen next to the ice machine.Mercado Juarez at 1651 E. Northside Drive scored 21 on July 29. Raw chicken was stored at an unsafe temperature, some food was uncovered in the coolers and there were dead roaches in the chemical storage area.J’s Noodle House at 10760 N. Beach St. scored 16 on July 31. The inspector found sauces stored without a date marking, no soap at one of the hand sinks and a dead roach in the kitchen.Oak Grove Food Mart at 1104 Oak Grove Road scored 16 on July 29. The inspector noted organic material inside the ice machine, mice droppings in the kitchen area and dead roaches near the hand sink.Carniceria La Superior at 3724 Decatur Ave. scored 14 on July 29. Cooked beans and rice were stored without date markings, several food items were stored at an unsafe temperature and there was a roach in the wall.Mexico Real at 5613 McCart Ave. scored 13 on July 27. The inspector found rust inside the ice machine, a live cockroach near the water heater and dead roaches behind the water heater and ice machine.Lisa’s Chicken and Seafood at 1651 Sycamore School Road scored 9 on July 29. Boxes of okra were stored on the floor of the walk-in freezer, no soap was available at one of the hand sinks and a dead cockroach was seen near the bulk containers of dry ingredients.Olori African Cuisine at 6248 McCart Ave. scored 17 on July 27. The inspector found rodent droppings by the reach-in freezers and a bag of rodent poison stored next to some dry ingredients.Church’s Chicken at 1701 Sycamore School Road scored 11 on July 29. One employee didn’t have a food-handler certificate, a bag of chicken was stored on the floor of the cooler and rodent droppings were found in a container that holds dry ingredients.
