This is a follow-up on claims Kansas coach Lance Leipold made that night about someone throwing it at a staff member. Texas Tech police said the incident was reported directly to athletics.
Someone from the Kansas staff turned the knife into a member of the Tech Athletics staff then the knife was given to Tech PD.
Tech said a closed pocket knife was found on the field. They turned it over to Tech PD and was asked by the Big 12 to file a report to the allegations made by Kansas.
Tech reviewed video from inside Jones AT&T Stadium. Those video results were turned into the Big 12. The leagues will now review the tape. Tech does not expect to receive a fine.
Tech PD said it patrols the campus every hour of every day with enhanced staffing on game days. The department emphasized the athletics department sets the security policies surrounding the entrances into Jones AT&T Stadium.
