LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The West Texas community is gearing up for a vibrant, family-friendly celebration of life. On Saturday, August 8, 2026, LifeGift will host its second annual HopeFest from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Texas Tech University Recreational Softball Fields in Lubbock. The free event honors organ, eye and tissue donors across 109 Texas counties while raising awareness for donor registration.
Anyone who attends can enjoy a complimentary ballpark lunch, including hot dogs, walking tacos and Frito pies, rounded out with sweet shaved ice treats from Bahama Bucks
LifeGift says they will feature:
Softball Showdown: A 6-team tournament featuring Covenant Health and University Medical Center, with awards for Best Team Name, Best Uniform, and the Championship Trophy.The Honor Path: A touching tribute created by donor families in remembrance of their loved ones.Family Fun: Activities including a HopeSpot selfie station, face painting, crafts, and music by DJ with TJ.Kite Flight Helicopter: The Covenant Children’s medical helicopter and transport team landing on-site for interactive tours.First Responder Vehicles: Up-close exploration of a Lubbock Police patrol unit and a Lubbock Fire Department fire engine.
LifeGift’s HopeFest offers hope for men, women and children waiting for life-saving organ, eye and tissue transplants in West Texas.
Currently, more than 11,000 Texans are waiting for these transplants. Organizers are hoping the event inspires more people to register as heroes.
