Screaming Goat Yard & Tap first opened its family-friendly eatery and taproom in Spring Branch in 2021, and now the business is preparing to reach a new audience in San Antonio. The goat-filled concept is being recreated at a space near the University of Texas at San Antonio, where goats, beer and brunch will all have a place to shine.
MySA spoke to Jamie Maldonado, a general manager at Screaming Goat, who filled us in on all the details about the second location as it is currently taking shape. When asked about an opening date, Maldonado shared that the team is still working to get everything just right before opening.
“We’re starting to hire. We’re starting to set up our POS systems and stuff like that. But realistically, I would say, hopefully, in the next month,” she said over a phone interview.
Customers who have visited the Spring Branch location can expect much of the same at San Antonio’s Screaming Goat, including a whole lot of beers on tap and a robust menu of Southern-inspired eats, though Maldonado added that the menu may expand over time, thanks to the larger kitchen and capacity. The general manager even hinted that oysters may join the menu down the line.
People can also expect to run into a few furry friends at the new Loop 1604 facility. The goats are one of the main attractions at Screaming Goat for obvious reasons, and customers who attend goat yoga sessions at the Spring Branch location can get up close and personal with the cute animals.
“Everybody loves the goats so much out there. They all have such funny personalities,” Maldonado said. “We can’t bring that many over here, but we’re trying to decide right now which ones. We’ll probably bring about six or seven to start.”
MySA will keep up with Screaming Goat’s progress and report back once we have the opening date for the San Antonio location.
