EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso police say two East El Paso men were killed in a high-speed crash on I-10 early Saturday morning, after a car traveling in the shoulder struck a vehicle stopped for a tire change.
The El Paso Police Department responded to the two-vehicle crash at 1:42 a.m. on Saturday on I-10 East near Copia.
The police department’s Special Traffic Investigations Unit was called out to take over the investigation.

Police said preliminary information indicates a white 2014 Hyundai Accent was traveling east in the left lane when it veered right, crossing all lanes into the emergency shoulder.
The Hyundai continued eastbound at a high rate of speed in the shoulder until it struck the rear of a 2021 Mazda 3.
At the time of the crash, the Mazda was stopped on the shoulder while the driver, 31-year-old Omar Rene Botello, was attempting to change a tire.
Botello died at the scene, police said.
The Hyundai’s driver, 27-year-old Michael Isaiah Sepulveda, was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries, according to police.
Both men were identified as East El Paso residents.
Police said speed and alcohol may be contributing factors in the collision.
