EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 26-year-old man changing a tire was struck by a pickup truck and seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash early Saturday morning, Aug. 8 along Interstate 10 in East-Central El Paso, police said.
Police said just before 3 a.m. on Saturday, they responded to a crash involving a pedestrian at I-10 East and Airway.

Special Traffic Investigations responded and took the lead in the incident.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a person was changing a flat tire when he was struck by a pickup truck.
The unknown vehicle exited I-10 at the off-ramp to Airway and fled the scene. The pedestrian, who has not been identified by name, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Police said the vehicle that fled the scene is possibly a 2010 to 2015 silver or gray Chevy pickup with a quad cab.
The investigation continues.
This was the second serious crash involving a person changing a tire along the side of the road in about a week.
