The controlled network outage that took down computer systems at the JPS Health Network this week was due to detected “suspicious activity,” officials confirmed on social media on Friday.
The suspicious activity was detected Monday morning, and officials decided to take the hospital system offline to “isolate and secure” the network, according to the Facebook post.
“Our IT teams continue to work diligently to resolve the downtime,” the statement reads. “At the same time, our clinicians and staff remain fully engaged in caring for our patients and are using established downtime procedures to continue providing care.”
Based on current assessments, the hospital system is expected to remain offline “for the next several days,” officials said.
In the meantime, patients should keep their established appointments unless contacted directly by their JPS care team, according to the statement. Anyone who needs assistance should contact the hospital at one of these phone numbers:

Beginning Thursday, the Fort Worth Fire Department has been diverting ambulances carrying patients with trauma, strokes and STEMI heart attacks to other hospitals, according to Star-Telegram media partner WFAA-TV. The emergency room remains open to walk-in patients.
