A “tricky” intersection was the scene of a car accident Friday night on Houston’s south side.
Nearby residents have said that the area where Reveille Street meets Telephone Road has some curves that make it dangerous.
Houston police say a woman was driving very fast Friday night and ran two stoplights before hitting a vehicle at that intersection.
That driver who was allegedly speeding, identified as a 20-year-old woman, was killed in the collision.
The driver of the vehicle that was hit ended up in a hospital, said to be in stable condition.
As if to prove the point of how dangerous the area is for traffic, a 71-year-old man in a wheelchair waiting at a curb to cross a street just about a block away earlier in the day was killed by a hit-and-run driver.
Investigators say there’s likely security camera footage of the accident that will help them identify the hit-and-run driver.
One woman who lives in the neighborhood called the intersection “tricky” because at night one or two of the turns might be confusing to some drivers as Telephone Rd. joins Reveille, then the street name changes southbound to Telephone just over Sims Bayou, but also headed southbound, Bellfort Ave. traffic is just about 1,000 feet nearby..
