FOX 4 PLUS is bringing Thursday night high school football to viewers across Dallas-Fort Worth with High School Football Game of the Week presented by Sonic.
The series will feature a game in all 11 weeks of the Texas high school football regular season. Ten of those matchups will be Thursday games, with one being on a Friday — they’ll be broadcast live on FOX 4 PLUS and on the FOX LOCAL app.
The series will involve six Fort Worth-area football teams: Arlington Bowie, Mansfield Timberview, Fort Worth Benbrook, Fort Worth Eastern Hills, Trophy Club Byron Nelson and Keller. Two matchups are still to be determined and will likely feature close playoff races around Dallas-Fort Worth.
The first matchup will feature Arlington Bowie against Prosper Rock Hill on Thursday, Aug. 27 — the Volunteers are searching for three consecutive district titles led by head coach Joseph Sam.
In Week 2, the Mansfield Timberview and Denton Ryan will be highlighted. The Wolves, led by coach Jacody Coleman, are a rising program looking to establish themselves among the state’s best against powerhouse Denton Ryan.
On Oct. 1, the broadcast will feature Fort Worth Eastern Hills and Fort Worth Benbrook in a Fort Worth ISD clash. The District 5-4A Division I should be a competitive race with multiple teams vying for the top spot.
The last announced contest involving Fort Worth-area teams will take place Oct. 8, when Byron Nelson takes on Keller in a District 4-6A bout. The Byron Nelson Bobcats have been one of the area’s top squads in recent years.
FOX 4 PLUS is an extension of KDFI Channel 27, a staple in North Texas. It is available on Spectrum, Frontier, DirecTV, DISH plus, YouTube TV and Fubo. Jeff Watts Productions will produce the broadcasts.
The FOX LOCAL app is free and available to download on Roku, Amazon FireTV, Apple TV, Google Android TV, Vizio, and phone app stores.
“We’re thrilled to team up with FOX 4 PLUS. Our crew’s been on DFW high school sidelines for years, and we’re ready to bring fans the big plays, great stories, and all the energy every week,” said JWP President Michael Watts via press release. “Texas high school football is special, and we can’t wait to spotlight these athletes, coaches, and communities.”
