‘This is my Super Bowl.’ | Father, 2 sons now serve together in Fort Worth Police Department

Antoine Stevenson, 30, joins his father, Sgt. Dana Stevenson, and younger brother Koby, 29, as Fort Worth police officers.

FORT WORTH, Texas — For Antoine Stevenson, becoming a Fort Worth police officer means more than putting on a new uniform.

It means joining a family legacy.

Antonoin Stevenson, 30, was sworn in Friday as the newest member of the Fort Worth Police Department, graduating alongside his fellow recruits.

But this is not his first time wearing a police badge.

Before joining Fort Worth police, Antoine Stevenson served with the Keller Police Department. He was later recruited to join Fort Worth’s force, where he now serves alongside his father and younger brother.

His father, Sgt. Dana Stevenson, has been with the Fort Worth Police Department for more than 25 years. His younger brother, Koby Stevenson, 29, is already a Fort Worth police officer.

For the family, Friday’s graduation was a moment years in the making.

Sgt. Dana Stevenson remembers graduating from the police academy in 2001. Antoine was 5 years old at the time, and Koby was 4. He had no way of knowing that 25 years later, he would be putting a badge on his own son.

“It’s just so surreal for me,” Sgt. Dana Stevenson said.

For Antoine and Koby, the path to the badge also grew out of the bond they shared as kids.

“We grew up doing everything together,” Antoine Stevenson said.

That included playing sports and, as children, wearing matching outfits and costumes. Later, the brothers wore matching football uniforms in high school and college.

Now, they wear matching uniforms again. Only this time, they are Fort Worth police officers.

“Now it’s like we’re on a team again,” Koby Stevenson said.

Koby said he had hoped his younger brother would eventually join the department.

“I was hoping one day it would [happen],” Koby Stevenson said.

For Sgt. Dana, watching his son take the oath was an emotional moment. “I’m at a loss of words, can’t even express the words right now,” Sgt. Dana Stevenson said. “This is my Super Bowl. I’m his number 1 fan.”

Sgt. Dana Stevenson also knows what it means to have family beside you in the department.

“They have each other,” Sgt. Dana Stevenson said.

For the Stevenson family, the badge represents more than a career.

It represents a bond that started on the playing field, grew through years of brotherhood, and now continues inside the Fort Worth Police Department.

Three family members, one department, and a legacy that is still being written.
