SAN MARCOS, Texas — A 21-year-old man has been arrested after a 32-year-old man was fatally shot early Sunday, according to the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 1:58 a.m. Aug. 9, deputies responded to a shots fired call in the 5000 block of Crossover Road in San Marcos. While deputies were on the way, multiple additional calls reported that several shots had been fired and a man was lying in the front driveway of a residence.

San Marcos police officers arrived first and found 32-year-old Sergio Raynaldo Mata, who had been shot multiple times. Life-saving measures were administered, but Mata was pronounced dead at 2:16 a.m.
