Dallas police officers responded to reports of a shooting about 4:31 a.m. in the 2700 block of Exline Street, according to a police statement.

Investigators determined three people had been shot and were transported to the hospital by a private vehicle, where one later died, authorities said. None of the individuals were publicly identified.

It remains unclear what led to the shooting and if the three individuals knew each other.

Police said no one has been arrested in connection with the shooting, though a 37-year-old man who disregarded the crime scene tape after being told to avoid the area was taken into custody. He faces a charge of interference with public duties.
