Bilyonaryo News Channel anchor Korina Sanchez has admitted that she has long entertained the idea of entering politics, but suggested that a possible Senate run in 2028 remains far from certain.
Speaking in an interview on the sidelines of an event at the TV5 headquarters last week, Sanchez said political plans have crossed her mind several times over the years, only for her to eventually hold back.
“Actually, matagal na akong may plano dati-dati pa, napipigilan parati. Palagay ko mapipigilan na naman ako,” Sanchez said when asked about rumors that she could seek public office in 2028.
Sanchez, who hosts BNC’s flagship newscast, “Agenda,” as well as the morning show “Memo With Korina,” acknowledged that people around her have been encouraging her to take the plunge.
“Lahat sila gusto akong [tumakbo]. Pero mahirap na, kailangan alamin muna natin yung…” she said.
She stopped short of elaborating on what factors she would have to consider before making a decision, but made clear that entering politics would require more than simply wanting to help people.
Sanchez also playfully brushed aside the suggestion that she could become a political “fairy godmother” capable of solving problems once in office.
Her remarks come amid speculation over potential candidates for the 2028 national elections, although Sanchez gave no indication that she has begun making concrete preparations for a Senate bid.
For now, the veteran journalist appears to be keeping the political door open—but with one foot still firmly in broadcasting.
