It may still be hot outside, but one San Antonio-born barbecue chain is rolling out an affordable plate that basically says summer’s over.
Bill Miller Bar-B-Q announced the return of its iconic turkey plate on Monday, August 10. The combo comes with turkey slathered in gravy along with two sides and a large tea for $10.05, according to a Facebook post from the restaurant. Pictured with the slices of turkey were sides of green beans and dressing, which also appeared to be drizzled with gravy. The combo is available for a limited time, while supplies last, according to the post.
It looks like the plate is the same price as last year’s, though there has been a slight price increase over time. In 2020, diners could grab their meal for $7.95, and it inched up to $8.95 the following year. In 2023, it cost customers $9.95.
The plate is usually wheeled out closer to the holiday season, returning in late October in 2023 and in early November last year (on the heels of a weeks-long turkey shortage). However, this isn’t the first time turkey and gravy has launched while the temperature still clocks in at the ’90s. In 2021, MySA went to try the combo plate in late July, describing it as “a Thanksgiving meal with a Texas touch.” Honestly, who said it’s too early to pretend like the holidays are here? Stores already have Halloween decor galore decking the shelves, so it feels like fair game.
Right now, it seems that other seasonal offerings such as pumpkin pie have yet to hit Bill Miller restaurants.
Bill Miller Bar-B-Q was founded in San Antonio in 1953, making it one of the city’s most recognizable chains. There are currently 76 Bill Miller locations overall, most of them here in the Alamo City, so this combo shouldn’t be hard to get your hands on.
