LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Relentless heat and dry conditions continue Tuesday, but a hopeful shift in the weather pattern is on the horizon. Although conditions remain dry for now, storm chances are signaling a return as soon as Wednesday evening on the Caprock.
The expansive high pressure system that has dominated the southern half of the country is beginning to weaken. The western lobe of the high is breaking down as an approaching trough moves toward the West Coast, setting the stage for changing conditions.

Tuesday: Expect continued hot and dry conditions. Temperatures will remain about 5 to 10 degrees above seasonal norms, similar to what has been experienced over the past several days.

While shower and storm chances remain slim during the peak viewing hours, any cloud cover could impact visibility of the meteor display.
