A Dallas couple’s cinematic labor of love will begin streaming on Apple TV on Aug. 14.
Josh Jordan wrote and directed the black-and-white film about a monk living an unconventional life in a monastery on the Texas coast, and Jessica Jordan served as a producer. They said the film would be coming to other platforms soon.
The couple said the low-budget film was shot in 15 days, using locations including Dallas’ St. Seraphim Orthodox Cathedral; a monastery in Kent, Texas; and a remote island off Port O’Connor.
Matthew Posey, the founder and artistic director of Dallas’ Ochre House Theater, stars as rule-breaking monk Father John, who is inching toward sainthood as a “holy fool,” a figure in Christian tradition who embraces unconventional or seemingly foolish behavior as an expression of faith. The cast also includes Franky Mosley, Jordan Walker Ross, Barry Corbin and Tim DeLaughter, the frontman for Dallas rock bands Tripping Daisy and the Polyphonic Spree, of which Jessica Jordan is a member.
Josh Jordan got his start behind the camera directing music videos for the Polyphonic Spree and Joshua Ray Walker. The Polyphonic Spree contributed vocals to El Tonto Por Cristo’s moody soundtrack.
