CLINT, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 20-year-old Fabens man was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge after authorities say a pickup truck struck two pedestrians Saturday night in Clint during a kermes.
The incident happened at about 11:23 p.m. at the intersection of Church and Garcia streets, according to a news release from the El Paso County Constable’s Office Precinct 6. A constable on routine patrol was flagged down by a citizen who reported that a pedestrian had been struck and might be injured.
When the constable arrived, authorities found that a black GMC Sierra had struck two people who were crossing the street after leaving the San Lorenzo Church Bazaar Festival.
The victims were identified in the release as a 62-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman, both from San Elizario.
Officials said that Emmanuel Meza Rabelo, 20, of Fabens, was driving the GMC Sierra the wrong way on a one-way street when he allegedly failed to see the pedestrians and struck them, according to the release.
Authorities said Meza Rabelo showed signs of intoxication and failed a field sobriety test.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Peter J. Herrera Station, where he voluntarily provided a breath sample. According to the Constable’s Office, the results showed a breath alcohol concentration above Texas’ .08 legal limit.
The Constable’s Office obtained an arrest warrant charging Meza Rabelo with driving while intoxicated.
He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $10,000 bond, according to the release.
Both pedestrians sustained minor injuries and were treated by the Clint Fire Department and Life Ambulance. The 60-year-old woman requested transportation to a local hospital for treatment, the release states.
