The 48-year-old woman was arrested Saturday in Mexico on a capital murder warrant in connection with the death of her daughter Kassandra White in 1996, according to a social media post from the Tarrant County district attorney’s office.
The woman was initially arrested in November 1996 and accused of throwing her child into a wall, hitting her, allowing the child’s head to strike a door and shaking her, according to Tarrant County court records.
The mother was indicted in 1997 and accused of causing her daughter’s death. She was granted bond and failed to return to court before the case could go to trial, according to court records. She was wanted out of Tarrant County for almost three decades.
“The DA’s office never gave up on bringing the woman back to face the charge against her and answer for the death of her daughter,” the district attorney’s office said in the post.
