Two young siblings have died in an RV fire in Texas, despite firefighters rushing into the collapsing camper to try and rescue them.
On Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 5:25 a.m., the Cleveland Fire Department was called to a report of an RV fire with children trapped inside at County Road 3819, five miles south of Cleveland, according to KHOU11 and ABC13.
Cleveland Fire Chief Sean Anderson told KHOU11 that the RV was beginning to collapse while they were traveling to the area, but that firefighters still went inside.

“The children were unfortunately located inside the structure,” Anderson said.
He later confirmed that the two children were siblings and under the age of 10.
Both children died and Anderson said their bodies had been sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Jefferson County, where autopsies will take place, per ABC13.
The children’s grandfather identified them as a 2-year-old girl and her 3-year-old brother, according to the outlet.
Officials have not confirmed the identities or exact ages of the victims.

Anderson said during a press conference, shared by KPRC, that the siblings were in the same area inside the RV and that other family members had been checked out for injuries and smoke inhalation.
When asked by a reporter whether other relatives were inside the camper at the time of the blaze, the fire chief replied, “They were in the area of the fire at the time.”
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Anderson said a Liberty County chaplain was on the scene to support family members and the firefighters who responded to the call.
