APGA adds Cedar Crest to roster of fall tournaments.
The Advocates Pro Golf Association (or APGA) tour announced its APGA Farmers Insurance Fall Series would return, with three new tournaments added to the mix that will expand the tour schedule to 15 events.
The tour was founded to help provide opportunities for golfers who might not have access to competitive platforms otherwise. The organization says it’s featured more than 600 professional golfers since its inception in 2010, and helped current and past members move on to more than 200 starts in PGA tour events. This year marks the first time each full-field event will be open to any professional men’s golfer, whether they’re an APGA Tour member or not. Each tournament will consist of 36 holes of competition over two days, plus a practice round, and will have a $33,000 purse.
One of those new tournaments is the APGA at Cedar Crest, which will be held at Cedar Crest Golf Course in Dallas on October 25-27. The APGA says that the course is a new one for the tour, but the course itself opened in 1919 as Cedar Crest Country Club, and was designed by Albert Warren Tillinghast.
