LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The City of Lubbock is breaking ground on a major reconstruction of Broadway on Friday, August 14, marking the official kickoff of a project funded by the 2024 Street Bond.
The ceremonial groundbreaking will take place at 11 a.m. at Broadway and Avenue M.
The project will transform Broadway from Avenue Q to Avenue E. It features a new three-lane concrete road complete with street parking and dedicated bike lanes on both sides.
The city will install brick pavers with alternating colors at all intersections and crosswalks. The corridor will also get new:
Sidewalks Benches Bike racks Trees on both sides of the street
To prevent future disruptions to the new pavement, the city is upgrading essential underground utilities. Work on and around Broadway will include improvements to:
