We Purple You, BTS ARMY Arlington lights up purple Aug. 14-16

By Susan Schrock, Office of Communication

Arlington has no plans to hold back—because when K-pop icons BTS bring their long-awaited, sold-out tour to AT&T Stadium, you don’t need “Permission to Dance” to join the celebration!

From Friday, Aug. 14 through Sunday, Aug. 16, The American Dream City will light up purple to celebrate the Arirang Tour and welcome tens of thousands of fans from across the globe. Drive by locations such as City Hall, Rotary Dream Park, the Collins Street water tower near AT&T Stadium and any of the gateway monuments at the city limits to enjoy the lights. To ensure fans can capture every “Microkosmos” moment, the City of Arlington has created seven special photo opportunities across Downtown Arlington and the Entertainment District.

“While we’ve experienced BTS events in other cities that felt more commercialized, Arlington has truly gone above and beyond to give ARMY a big Texas welcome. The citywide lighting, special events and thoughtful photo ops have created this incredible sense of excitement and anticipation leading up to the concert weekend. It feels like the entire city is celebrating right alongside us. We’ve never experienced a city embrace ARMY quite like this-it’s true Texas hospitality, making thousands of fans coming from near and far feel welcomed, celebrated and at home before we even step inside the stadium,” Texas ARMY Unites Team said.
