SAN ANTONIO — Three young women have been selected to represent the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo as its 2026-27 Cowgirl Cavviettas, carrying forward a tradition centered on leadership, service and Western heritage.
Emily Halsey, Cassie Moore and Lainey Zarazua were chosen to serve as ambassadors for the rodeo and its mission of supporting and developing Texas youth.
The Cowgirl Cavvietta program recognizes young women for their character, leadership, horsemanship, professionalism, agricultural knowledge and commitment to serving others.

“The hat may be what people see, but leadership, service and horsemanship are what make a Cavvietta,” program coordinator Jackie Simmonds said.
Throughout their year of service, Halsey, Moore and Zarazua will participate in community outreach, educational programs, volunteer opportunities, and rodeo events. The cowgirls will also make appearances on horseback as part of the program’s tradition.
Each will receive a $10,000 scholarship and mentorship aimed at strengthening their leadership skills.
The three will serve as role models and advocates for agriculture and education while representing the Western traditions at the heart of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo.
