A newly obtained affidavit reveals new details about what police say happened before an officer fired at a man accused of stabbing a woman.
DALLAS — A Dallas man accused of repeatedly stabbing a woman at a Northeast Dallas apartment complex was holding a knife against her throat and stomach when an officer arrived, according to a newly obtained arrest affidavit.
Isidoro Melo-Munoz, 37, is charged with aggravated assault-family violence with a deadly weapon in connection with the Aug. 7 attack at the Sunchase Park Apartments in the 8500 block of Park Lane.

The arrest affidavit provides new details about what police say happened before an officer fired at Melo-Munoz as he fled the scene.
As WFAA previously reported, Dallas police officers were dispatched to the apartment complex around 7 a.m. after receiving a disturbance emergency call.
Dallas police Sgt. John Arnold was the first officer to arrive and encountered Melo-Munoz holding a knife against the woman’s throat and stomach, according to the affidavit.
Arnold gave loud verbal commands for Melo-Munoz to let the woman go, but police say Melo-Munoz instead began stabbing her multiple times.
Arnold then fired one round from his duty weapon as Melo-Munoz fled, according to the affidavit. Melo-Munoz was not struck.
The woman suffered multiple stab wounds and was taken by Dallas Fire-Rescue to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. Police previously said she underwent surgery and was later listed in stable condition.
The affidavit identifies Melo-Munoz and the woman as having been in an on-and-off dating relationship for approximately six years.
Police previously said witnesses reported Melo-Munoz confronted the woman as she was preparing to leave for work and prevented her from leaving, moving her around the apartment complex while armed with multiple knives.
Neighbors at the complex told WFAA the commotion was so intense they could feel people running through the stairway.
Police later released body camera footage showing portions of the encounter. The affidavit states the incident was captured on Arnold’s body-worn camera.
Special Investigations Unit detectives also reviewed surveillance footage from nearby apartments and interviewed witnesses who corroborated details of the incident, according to the affidavit.
Police said investigators later recovered a knife along the path Melo-Munoz took while fleeing. Additional knives were also found at the scene.
Melo-Munoz was arrested the following day at a convenience store in the 6700 block of Abrams Road, as WFAA previously reported.
In addition to the aggravated assault-family violence charge, Melo-Munoz was booked into the Dallas County Jail on a warrant for burglary with intent to commit assault stemming from a separate Aug. 5 incident involving the same woman, according to police.
The investigation remains ongoing.
