LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – It’s been scorching hot the last few days with high temperatures soaring past the 100° mark in Lubbock and most of the South Plains. Moving forward, temperatures will drop a little, at least below the 100° for most over the coming days.

FRIDAY
High temperatures climb into the mid to upper 90s and lower 100s this afternoon.
Another hot afternoon is on the way wit ha few more shots of rain like yesterday in store(Dylan Smith)
The last of our rain chances for the foreseeable future arrive this afternoon/evening. Like yesterday, we could see a handful of showers and storms develop around the hottest parts of the afternoon and bubble up in pockets around the South Plains.
TONIGHT
Quiet and mild again. Low temperatures remain in the 70s and close to 80 again. Clearing skies and calm winds hang around.
WEEKEND OUTLOOK
A gorgeous summer weekend is on the way! High temperatures both Saturday and Sunday will hit the mid to upper 90s and lower 100s.
A not quite as hot but still toasty weekend of temperatures is heading our way(Dylan Smith)
Rain chances are slim to none for the weekend with winds generally out of the south around 10 to 20 mph.
EXTENDED WEATHER PATTERN
Not much changes as we move into the second half of August yet.
High pressure will ease to the east this weekend before returning to sit to our north heading into next week(Dylan Smith)
High temps remain close to the century mark with lots of sunshine and mostly dry weather.
