Fort Worth police have arrested a man they say shot and killed an Everman ISD employee during a road rage incident Thursday morning.
Patrick Lawrence, 37, was arrested and faces a murder charge in the killing of LaTaivia Davis, police said in a news release.
Davis was killed Thursday morning on Interstate 20, and the shooting shut down the highway for hours as officers investigated.

The efforts to arrest Lawrence involved units including patrol officers, homicide detectives, recruits, the Operations and Surveillance Team, the Directed Response Unit, and the city’s Real Time Crime Center, according to the release.
The Everman school district’s website lists Davis as an art aide at E. Ray Elementary School. It’s believed she was on her way to work at the time of the shooting.
“The loss of a member of our Everman ISD family is felt throughout our entire school community,” school district officials said in a statement. “We are committed to supporting our students and staff during this difficult time, and counseling and support resources are being made available to those who may need them.”
Witnesses told police that the victim and the suspect were driving eastbound on I-20 near Trail Lake Drive in southwest Fort Worth when Lawrence pulled up next to Davis’ car, fired shots and then fled the scene.
Police said that an arrest warrant affidavit with details of the evidence against Lawrence will be released to the media on Friday.

First responders provided medical care to Davis, but she was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
“Our hearts go out to her family and loved ones as they deal with this tragic loss,” the department said.
