SAN ANTONIO – Firefighters quickly put out a small fire at a one-story home, limiting damage and ensuring everyone inside — including two dogs — got out safely.
Around 3:20 p.m. on Friday, firefighters responded to calls for a structure fire at a small home near the corner of Westwood Drive and Breeden Street.
Crews responded to a single-alarm call and arrived to find what appeared to be a minor incident. “We got a single alarm for a uh, a one-story house, and it looked like there wasn’t a lot of fire involvement,” a firefighter at the scene said. “It looked like it could have been possibly what we call a food on the stove or a small contents fire.”
Firefighters knocked down the fire and put it out, with “little, little minor damage to the house,” the firefighter said. Two dogs were inside the home and were pulled out by crews, then taken to a neighbor’s house.
The homeowners later arrived at the scene. No one was hurt. “No injuries, no injuries to the firefighters, to the dogs,” the firefighter said.
Crews planned to ventilate the home to clear out smoke and remove whatever burned. The firefighter said they advised the homeowners to follow up on their stove and electrical appliances. “This is a good one because minor damage, nobody got hurt, and um everybody’s okay,” the firefighter said.
