Deputies say the driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating as the investigation continues

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A woman was killed late Thursday night after being hit by a vehicle in northwest Harris County, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 9:30 p.m. to the 13300 block of Highway 249 for a reported auto-pedestrian crash. Investigators said the woman was trying to cross the roadway when she was struck.
Houston EMS personnel pronounced her dead at the scene, authorities said.
The driver of a Toyota sedan remained at the location, showed no signs of impairment and has been cooperative with investigators, HCSO said. Deputies noted the woman was not crossing at a marked crosswalk.
HCSO is handling the investigation.
