AUSTIN (KXAN) — It may not feel like summer is winding down anytime soon in Central Texas. However, as fall quickly approaches, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department issued a reminder that hunting and fishing licenses for the upcoming season are now available.

If you hold a current-year Texas hunting and fishing license, those are set to expire at the end of August. You are exempt from this if you purchased the “Year-From Purchase All-Water Fishing Package,” according to TPWD.

Additionally, TPWD said new identification verification rules are now in effect for license purchases in an effort to combat residency fraud. New information on those rules can be found on the FAQ webpage.

If you’re looking to purchase a license, you can buy one online or through the Outdoor Annual mobile app. TPWD said that the app works without an internet connection and allows hunters and fishers to access the most up-to-date regulations.

For those who frequently buy licenses, TPWD is offering an expedited checkout process, allowing customers to repurchase licenses bought in past years.
