Where I live is a unique neighborhood.
I live in a gated condominium community called Villas on the Bluff in Cityview off Bryant Irvin Road.
Our group of 80 fourplexes are among numerous apartment buildings, mixed with commercial enterprises such as a car wash, car dealerships and service outlets. It is not a neighborhood for walking, although our compound is a friendly area for walking, getting together at our clubhouse or pool, and admiring our view over the bluff.
The Villas were built in the late 1970s, a very early contribution to condo living in Fort Worth.
I moved here in 2006 from Wedgwood, where I had lived since 1969 and where I raised my six kids. I no longer needed five bedrooms, and I no longer wanted to take care of a large lot. I have never regretted making the move.
There are shopping areas nearby including Costco, Albertson’s, Sam’s Club, restaurants, the Hulen Mall, and most important to this aging resident, a hospital and medical facilities.
I keep busy as a community activist and will continue to do so until I can move to Urbana, Illinois, to be with four of my children.
Reed Bilz has lived in Fort Worth since 1969. She raised her six children in the Wedgwood neighborhood. She now lives in a gated condominium community in southwest Fort Worth.
