Houston’s comedy scene has seen growth in recent months, with several new clubs announcing plans to open this year.
This month alone, the Pink Flamingo Comedy Club celebrated its grand opening, built inside a historic space in downtown Houston – dating back to 1908. Rudyard’s British Pub in Montrose also has announced it would be opening The Club, in collaboration with Houston Secret Group owner and comedian Andrew Youngblood, replacing the space upstairs that used to be occupied by the Riot Comedy Club.

In total, the scene has grown from four venues to eight dedicated solely to comedy.
Here’s what you need to know about each comedy club in Houston.
The Club

After the Riot Comedy Club announced it would be moving into a new space off Washington Avenue, Rudyard’s announced it would be transforming the upstairs space into another comedy club. On July 29, Secret Group owner and comedian Andrew Youngblood announced he would be collaborating with the pub to open The Club. While it’s still unclear of the hours of the club, the venue has hosted several showcases and has continued its Monday night open mics at 8 p.m.

The Den Comedy Club

Opening in March, owners of The Den Comedy Club have transformed the upstairs space at Wolfsmiths coffee shop and bar in Northside into a speakeasy venue – hosting both showcases and headliner events Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The venue was opened by local comedians Janan Araujo-Siam and Onkar Singh, bringing both national and international touring acts to the space. Tickets range between $19 to $25.

Houston Improv
The historic Improv comedy club’s history began in the early 1960s in New York City, before expanding with multiple locations across the country. Houston Improv hosts touring and local acts Tuesday through Sunday, with ticket prices varying starting around $50.

The Pink Flamingo Comedy Club

Originally built in 1908 as a silent movie theater, the Pink Flamingo Comedy Club is a 200-seat comedy club spanning three floors. The club celebrated its grand opening on Aug. 8, with owner and local comedian Mike Ryan planning to book shows on the weekend with touring comedians and local showcases, later expanding into the week. Tickets range between $18 to $25.

Punch Line Houston
Live Nation-operated Punch Line opened its first Houston club in 2024 inside of the former House of Blues restaurant space. The venue hosts touring headliners, local comedians and open mics, with shows spanning from Wednesday to Sunday. Tickets range between $26 to $45.

The Riot Comedy Club Montrose

In Late July, owner and comedian Brian Gendron announced he would be opening another location in the Washington Avenue corridor after moving out of the upstairs space at Rudyard’s British Pub. This comes as the comedy club opened its first location in San Antonio. The new venue will operate as a cafe during the day and turn into a comedy club with a kitchen and bar at night. Ticket prices vary starting at $12.

The Riot Comedy Club Conroe
The move from the upstairs at Rudyard’s British Pub to the Washington Ave. location was not the only change for The Riot this year. They also opened a Montgomery County location inside GuadalaHarry’s Restaurant. As with the Houston club, ticket prices start at $12.

Secret Group

First opening in 2016, Secret group has hosted comedy showcases and headliner events seven days a week, with some live music acts. Founded by comedians, including Youngblood, the venue has become a staple in the scene, hosting local mics as well as touring comedians. Prices vary, from free events to local showcases starting at $2.
