EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — A new community mural celebrating the history and culture of the El Paso Mission Trail was unveiled Saturday, Aug. 15, at the El Paso Mission Trail Visitors Center.

The El Paso Mission Trail Association invited the public to attend the unveiling of the mural, created by award-winning artist Robert Dozal, from 10 a.m. to noon.

The mural honors the history, culture and spirit of the El Paso Mission Trail and the surrounding Mission Valley community. Inspired by the area’s historic missions, traditions and people, the artwork reflects the identity and heritage of the Mission Trail.

The project was supported by the El Paso Mission Trail Association, City of El Paso Representative Lily Limón, El Paso County Commissioner Iliana Holguin and private donors.

The celebration included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, remarks from Dozal and community leaders, and light refreshments. Residents, visitors, community partners and members of the media attended the event.
