Officers are investigating after one man was killed and another was injured in a shooting during an altercation at a Fort Worth home, police say.
According to police, officers were called at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday to the shooting in the 6900 block of Misty Glen Court.
Police say a male homeowner had returned home when he saw another man on his property. A verbal fight reportedly broke out between the two, which escalated to them exchanging gunfire.
The man on the homeowner’s property when he arrived was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The homeowner was shot as well and taken to a local hospital. His current condition is unknown.
According to police, the man who was killed had an active protective order against someone who lived in the home. Speaking in regard to the protective order, Fort Worth public information officer Buddy Calzada further established the isolated nature of the incident and expressed how it could have been avoided completely.
“It was between two known individuals (that) should not have even been on the property because of the court order that was signed off by a judge,” Calzada said.
Police have not identified either party involved in the shooting as of 8 p.m. Saturday.
